Overall they are good kids, no big huge problems...but having them home all day during the summer is a real pain. All they do is complain, whine, argue, moan..I loathe the summer break. As a kid, my mother always worked and I was left to stay home alone which led to me getting into aLOT of trouble..I didnt want that for them so I am staying home with them but I find that I am going crazy and its only 4 days into break. I do have activities planned but it doesnt take up all day everyday. I just dont know what to do...Are my kids just brats? Did I set a bad example and raised them to be negative or is this normal? She tells me I baby my chidren and need to be more strict with them, even though i feel my husband is strict enough, she thinks I should spank my children all the time, but she spanked me when i was little , and i didnt like it. Please help...
Requesting Parenting Tips? I'm pregnant with my first child (a girl), while I have some "rules" and ways of raising I'm looking for others too. I'm open to anything, so even if you think it may be outrageous I'd like to hear your idea's. Your personal experiences could be helpful too, so if you'd like to share those too that would be wonderful. I know not to let others influence the way I raise my daughter, I'm just looking for some "helpful" tips. And personal experiences. I.E. When did you start "teaching" your child to read, what do you allow your child to have or not have? Certain things to avoid? Anything I can expect? As far as the sleeping through the night thing, I've prepared myself for both. My mother says that I slept through the night, while my brothers and sisters were up all night. But seriously if you have any tips and or experiences please do share. I'm a little apprehensive about giving birth, tips on that would be great too. As well as pregnancy tips. I'm 28 weeks today!!! Yay!!!

Teachers-Do you have tips for parent teacher conferences? I'm a 3rd year teacher and this is my first year conferencing by myself. I'm VERY nervous! Do you have any tips? How do I answer that question?
parenting tips from another country? really need a website that is no US, with tips about raising a baby
Single Parenting Tips? I'm going to be a single parent in just a few short months (the father and his family have no interest in involvement). My family is very supportive and helpful thank goodness. Obviously though this baby is mine to raise, care for and be responsible for. I am also still pursuing my degree and will have a full time job after the birth. I would love any tips I can get from other single parents. Thank you in advance. I'll be getting a job in day care/education (I'm CDA certified to teach in private day care and a highly Qualified Paraprofessional) so I'm not too concerned about childcare costs actually since part of my benefits is reduced cost childcare. Also I did strongly consider adoption but decided that because I am confidant I can raise this little man well, without the help of his father, that that option simply was not for me.
Any Teen parenting tips? I'm 15, due mid September, haven't told my parents, told him, am still in school and idk what to do. CAN ANYONE HELP ME?
Athiest Parenting tips? I was wondering if I could get a great site on some tips for being an athiest parent? (This is for future reference, I'm not even pregnant.) Of course I want my future children to have morals and be a good person, and I believe these can be taught without religion. However, being raised a Jehovah's Witness, I was told everything was done by "god" and not to worry about it, so it's hard imagining how to do this. Also, my finance, the father of my future kids is Christian..sort of. He believes in God, yet isn't very active in his beliefs (a relief for me, yet we respect each others beliefs) And wants our future kids to believe in Santa and such, but I don't really feel comfortable with that. So this is sort of an odd situation but any advice would be greatly appreciated! Unless of course your going to slam me for being an athiest. I'm not a satanist as most uneducated athiest slammers are =) "Two hands working are more productive than a thousand praying ones." Oops sorry, Atheist, wow I do feel pretty dumb, can't even spell what I am. Yes, I recognize my stupidity. Gimmie a break, I just got outta the hospital! I am an idiot..I'm freaking sorry..FIANCEE..I was on morphine less than 24 hours ago!
Parenting tips pretty please....? Well it is summer and now kids galore! They swim, they have fun, we bike ride , walk the pup, go to the park, eat, swim some more... And then.................. It is time to go our seperate ways from the friends... OK, how do we get across to our little ones it is time to say good night? They seem to get together and not want to seperate... Then the whining starts, tips, advice? These girls are seven, ten, and eight... Wonderful kids, and the little girl my two are playing with is wonderful but still she needs time with her family too... How can I tactfully say they can get together again without any hurt feelings but call it a day? Right now if this makes lil sense, I am pooh beared out! Busy yesterday with them and then today... :o)
Are these parenting tips applicable to Pinoys? Your comments, pls.? * Motherhood ~ If it was going to be easy, it never would have started with something called labor! * Shouting to make your children obey is like using the horn to steer your car, and you get about the same results. * To be in your children's memories tomorrow, you have to be in their lives today. * The smartest advice on raising children is to enjoy them while they are still on your side. * The best way to keep kids at home is to make the home a pleasant atmosphere and to let the air out of the tires. * The right temperature in a home is maintained by warm hearts, not by hot heads. * Raising a teenager is like nailing Jell-O to a tree. * Parents: People who bare infants, bore teenagers, and board newlyweds. * The joy of motherhood: the time when all the children are finally in bed. * Life's golden age is when the kids are too old to need baby-sitters and too young to borrow the family car.

Rules of good parenting? Based on your experience, what are good tips for raising emotionally stable kids? For example, it's important to be neutral in kid squabbles and take corrective action without seeming to be biased or unfair. It's never a good idea to favor one kid over the others.
Can someone help me provide my parents tips and advice on how to handle a college bound high school senior?!? I am currently a senior in high school and next year I plan on attending a 4-year University. I have been extremely irritated lately because my parents keep nagging me about why I'm staying up late studying and doing all these extra curricular activities. They do not understand what it takes to become accepted into a University. They are just completely blind about this whole process. They refuse to be active in my school life and to talk to someone who could explain why i'm doing what I'm doing. It is just so frustrating when my parents aren't giving me encouragement when I need it the most. Someone please help!
Parenting tips?? Please help!!? My husband is coming home from Iraq in two months, and my son hasn't really seen him since he was 7 months. They see each other on webcam and talk on the phone/mic alot, and since he left from leave (feb) my son has taken it really hard. He won't sleep in his own bed anymore, he's extremely clingy, he's sleep walking, and recently he has been throwing fits for no reason.. He fights going to sleep, and he whines alot. He is now 18 months and I know it's going to be big adjustment when daddy comes back home, but I still have a little over two months to go and I am at wits end. I don't know anyone that can watch him and he makes himself sick if he is away from me for more than 30min. I need to put in more of a structure and discipline for him and get him to stop these fits and to sleep in his own bed.. but I am unsure of how to go about this, this past year has been VERY stressful someone please help! Any tips on getting him to his own bed, stopping these fits, everything and anything!!!

Parenting tips? The youngest of the bunch, an 8-year-old boy, has ADHD, but with inattentive, little hyperactive diagnosis. I'm running out of patience and he's getting so rowdy and wild lately! Some things he does to test my patience... -Headbutt me in time outs -Belches, sticks out his tongue, and passes air in school, at home, or in someone's face -Meow or bark like a dog on all fours or bite and lick someone -Hit me when I repeatedly if he is punished -Drink out of the O.J. carton -Throw unwanted food at me -Make toilet paper balls and throw them on the ceiling around the house -Last week he pulled kindergartener's hood down over his head and nearly choked him on the bus -Called the busdriver 'Tubby', 'Woof', and 'Miss Boxy' -Whine, shake his butt in my face, and fake falling asleep when talking to him PLEASE HELP? Oy. He won't STOP. He's constantly. In. Overdrive. He plays video games and watches TV about 3 hours a day...is that good? What should I do? Punishment ideas? It sounds unreal, but it is real. It's a struggle with him everyday. I'm at a 'hands and knees' desperate level here. For discipline and punishment, I do time-outs, no games for today-1 week, no toys, or no tv. Is this good?

Parenting tips needed!? how can I help my 7 years old to learn the basic skills and to work with others?
In desperate need of parenting tips!? I am a single mother of a 5 year old son. I have a VERY hard time disciplining him in ways he will listen and obey what he is told to do...perfect example of what just happened...I fixed myself a sandwich and offered to make him one, knowing as soon as he saw me eat he would want one too. I gave him the sandwich (bologna and ketchup), he took one bite and complained he did not want the crust. I told him to eat all but the crust and throw the crust away, he complained I would not hand him the trash can, I told him to get up and throw it away himself. He got upset and threw out the entire sandwich minus one bite. I told him I did not fix him a sandwich so he could just throw it away, he screamed in my face and I told him to go to his room. This is an EVERYDAY occurance, or something very similar, and I do not know what to do anymore. I have done everything I can, time outs, spankings, grounding him, ect and nothing works. We have been going to a child phycologist and he agrees...details my son has anger issues but I simply cannot find a way to help him deal with them and at the same time keep control over his behavior. When he is with his grandparents (both sets of grandparents watch him through the week 5p-8p until I get home from work) and he is fine until I walk in the door...then all heck breaks loose. I have no idea what to do anymore, and it has only gotten worse over the past few years. Someone please help!

need parenting teen tips? I dont know how to parent my teenagers. I will be the first one to admit it. My mother had me at 16 and she was a terrible mother. My teenage years bring back nothing but alot of painful memories that I would love to forget. Now, I am a mother of 2 teenagers and I just really dont know how to raise them the right way. We only know what we have been shown. I have read books and even taken parenting classes but I feel like Im failing at this and going crazy, heading down the road of depression. Since my childhood was not so great & I felt that my mother never really loved me (we still are very distant), she never attended my events, always was working or doing her own thing, I chose to be the opposite to my own children. I am a stay at home mom and I always try to be very involved in their lives..now I find myself wondering "what / where have I gone wrong? My 13 yr old son who has always been the sweetest kid thinks he is too cool to even speak to me in public if his friends are around. Yesterday, I drove 30 min to watch him at his track meet and I walked up to him to ask him a question (during a break) and he acted like I was a stranger. It hurt my feelings. Is this normal??? My other friends with teenage boys have not experienced this..they are sweet to her, hug on her, etc....I know they need to break away but does it hurt llike this or am I just crazy???? I have a good friend who just adopted a 14 yr old boy whose mother was a crack head, prostitute and gave him up. The boy thinks the crack head mother walks on water. I have never quite understand this phenomenom ---- its typical though, the kids who have parents that love their children and try to be the best they can be to their kids are taken for granted and underappreciated and the kids who have crack heads for parents are always wanting their love and approval. I just dont get it

Those who've never had any. * Cleaning your house while your kids are at home is like trying to shovel the driveway during a snowstorm. * Oh to be only half as wonderful as my child thought I was when he was small, and half as stupid as my teenager now thinks I am. * There are only two things a child will share willingly, communicable diseases and his mother's age. * Adolescence is the age at which children stop asking questions because they know all the answers. * An alarm clock is a device for awakening people who don't have small children. * No wonder kids are confused today. Half the adults tell them to find themselves; the other half tell them to get lost. * Kids really brighten a household; they never turn off any lights.
